Naysayers point to a man who has become world renowned as the Silver Nitrate or Blue Man. He is a most extreme case, and an example of the dangers of entering into self diagnosis and treatment without highly vetted research and training. Many people believe that he is a normal example of silver poisoning and evidence of why to stay away from it. In fact he is not a normal case. It is a perfect example our point in the last two paragraphs of this article. (read below)
His name is Paul Karason. It took 14 years for him to go from fair skin with freckles to being blue, literally. The back story though is that in order to speed the process of making ionic silver solution he added salt to the distilled water. This is where his problem began. The addition of the salt to the water acted as a catalyst in the electrolysis process. The result of that process was not ionic silver solution is water silver chloride.
The story of Rosemary Jacobs is another well known case of this. Both were ingesting staggering levels of silver prior to their problem.
The fact of the matter is that these two instances are extreme cases where the people continuously ingested Colloidal Silver over long periods of times at remarkably high dosages.
I would point out that silver is the base in compound of hundreds of highly respected drugs and treatments used in hospital burn units, respiratory ICUs and more everyday all over the world.
If silver was such a massive threat to public health in unregulated form the FDA would have already declared it so. In addition, since silver's rise to stardom in the fight against infection in the very early 1900's there would be a lot more than two people in spotlight as victims.
To be clear, that does not mean that in the highly uncontrolled and unregulated market of "natural" silver solutions there are not a lot of very highly touted snake oil salesman promising impossible cures and making completely no factual claims. That should only strengthen your resolve to select carefully, with due diligence and well informed.
