PracticeSurvival's Urban Dweller Survival Track
There is no disaster when you are prepared™
The city (urban) environment presents unique challenges for anyone who is in the area. Live there, work there or just visiting, the city on a good day can chew you up and spit you out in pieces with one wrong move. One of our most common mantras is that you need to know the environment prior to entering into it. That applies to every time that you venture out, whether it be to the woods, the park but triple time to the city.
The city is a complex series of dichotomies all intertwined and confusing. The sheer number of people stacked on top of each other blurs social boundaries and norms, shatters any idea of privacy and challenges the heart of the self reliant person. Everything is magnified and extreme, like a caricature. There are more people, more businesses, more homeless, more money, more auto thefts, more people to club with and date, more unstable and seriously mentally challenged, and more violent crimes, rapes, vehicle thefts, robberies, and murders than anywhere else. You get lots of great opportunities but you give up so much in the compromise it is certainly not worth it to those who yearn for a peaceful sunset in the mountains, or to sit by a campfire on the beach with no sounds but the birds and the water.
Your safety, security and happiness rely upon your awareness, vigilant readiness and practiced preparedness and skills. Broaden your mind and skill sets, hone the ones that you have and practice!
So as Will always says, " There is no disaster when prepared ".
Expand and practice your skills, feed your mind, pack your bags and kits, and never venture out without preplanning, studying your target area and letting someone know where you are going.
